Flight-Net
is a Network telex product that handles the receipt and transmission of messages through the worldwide airline messaging network provided by SITA.

 

SITA is the foremost communications provider for the airline industry with more than 1800 customers in 220 countries. With over 150,000 users connected to the SITA network, Flight-Net provides the ideal software interface for all SITA, telex, e-mail and fax messages integrating the complete data handling solution.

 

 

Flight-Net is based on the successful Telex-Net multi-message application which provides links to a Microsoft Exchange Mail Server.

SITA messages may be prepared in Microsoft Outlook and sent to a designated mailbox.

The Flight-Net software automatically reads this mailbox and forwards the message to SITA's global telecommunications network.

 

The Outlook user is informed when the message has been passed to the SITA communications server.

Incoming messages from SITA are received and stored in the Flight-Net database. The incoming message can be retrieved or automatically sent to one or more Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes or printed to specified printers on the network.

The software scans the incoming message for required matches e.g. a particular SITA address and forwards it to a designated Microsoft Exchange Mailbox.

Many messages relate to individual departments and, again, these may be automatically forwarded for the attention of a department or user. This user or department may review messages relating to their area of responsibility.

Once a message has been forwarded via MS Exchange, printed or directed to a specified department it is flagged as being "Actioned". Any messages which are not actioned are passed to an operator for attention who may redirect as required.

 

Using Microsoft Outlook a user can prepare, send or receive SITA messages, putting the unique seven letters SITA address as the top line of the message.

These messages can also be sent to other Internet or internal e-mail addresses using any of the Outlook facilities.

Incoming messages are directed to the user's mailbox to provide a single product messaging system.

A user can request the forwarding of incoming or outgoing messages by sending a request to a facilities management mailbox within Flight-Net.

 
 

Flight-Net Operator Facilities

High volume SITA message users may wish to use Flight-Net's operator facilities module which provides an easy to use package to prepare, send and review SITA messages.

Messages may be prepared and sent using facilities which include import from other messages, text files or the Windows Clipboard. Lists of incoming and outgoing messages are displayed, according to type or department.

Where the Telex-Net module is implemented, users may also send and receive telex messages from the same system, thus providing an integrated solution.

Integration with Telex-Net

Flight-Net and the telex software, Telex-Net, may be integrated into the same system.

Both SITA and telex messages may be sent and received through a common database using either Microsoft Outlook or the bespoke operator facilities.

How To Use   Voice - Lift handset, swipe card, dial number, after call, card will be billed.
  Data - Set 'dialling properties' on PC., connect PC to modem port on CAT, lift handset and swipe card, press modem button when you hear 'Please dial….' Then click on the 'Dial/connect' button on your PC software. NB. Apple Mac compatible.

Credit/Debit cards - Mastercard, Visa, American Express / Delta. ( not Switch or Diners Club )
Pre-paid phone cards - Typical denominations / £3,£5,£10. *To be purchased by Site Owner at face value less 30% - Cards will be screen printed with customer's logo at no additional charge. - Any remaining card value can be used up on any other phone by dialling an 800# followed by the card PIN#.

Cost of Calls
20p./min. ( standard pay phone call rate.)
*50p. minimum on credit/debit cards. ( no charge if line called is busy )

Notes on Dialling
Local calls must include area code. BT or similar charge cards that require 144 to be entered first, cannot be used. Cards that require 0800 to be entered, can be used. Striking the # key twice at the end of a call will enable a new number to be dialled and allow multiple calls on the same bill.

Site Registration
Quarterly 'revenue share' cheques will be sent to the Site Owner, that will amount to 5% of all CAT phone calls made in that period. This will require a Site Registration Form to be filled out ( Owner, address, bank details, etc.) and returned to Credit Call before service can begin.

Installation / Programming details.

Connect to PBX - Set up a Speed Dial # for calling Credit Call, and 3 more for the memory buttons if required ( one of which must be for emergency dial access ). Bar all other outgoing calls.

Connect to DEL - Arrange with the Network Operator to bar all calls except emergency ( 999/112 ) and Credit Call ( 0800 138 3250 )

When the lines are in place the CAT phone must be programmed with a commissioning card from Credit Call. Simply swipe the card through the phone, and enter the Credit Call access tel.# and any memory button Speed Dials required, as described in the programming guide.
